Been programming full time for the past few months for a startup company. Been a bit of sink or swim. Working with other people in an office is a bit different than my usual ambient music/darkened room/pajamas routine. It’s cool, though, to just mess with the backend and know that somebody else will handle making things look good. Sadly, not everybody in the universe is in love with my design aesthetic.

Been playing around with the dev kit a little, wrote a real iPhone app. Ported it to the iPad, much sexier. All I had to do was rewrite some .nib files, yay for a well designed API. Debating what other features to add before I submit it to the store.

Upgraded my laptop drive with a 1TB WD Scorpio drive. Fit just barely, but nicely. Had to downgrade the EFI to version 1.6 to get it to recognize the drive, which was a pain.

Finally fixed my css menus (read: got a coworker to fix it), so rolled that out. Made the movies pages random. Gonna add some ajax nonsense to the front page to fake being part of web 2.0.

Spent the last few months learning nuke. 3D compositing is pretty slick. Gonna work on my python skills so I can do some scripting.

Some dudes stole my computer with the last three years of my writing and all my artwork. My backup hard drive was in the bag as well. Keep offsite backups, kids. Another lesson learned the hard way. Never trust anyone.

I ordered a new macbook pro. The speed is pretty nice. But now my camera is basically useless without the direct memory interface that PCMIA on my laptop provided. So, guess I’m gonna have to part with that as well. Yay for humanity.

Consolidated my domains, upgraded the primary server to better account. Got carried away with the redesign.

Wrote some new menu code that I’m still debugging. Matched my existing theme using zen for drupal and moved to the video backend. Discovered some hilariously bad html lurking on my server. Enabled compliance. Things turned ugly and I decided to wait for html 5 to stabilize. But then I realized my old code wasn’t so bad. What the site really needed was just some maintenance.

So, finally flipped on a new front page highlighting the different ways you can get the movies. Added a torrent feed. Unified the miro/itunes/rss code for the main page. Hard linked the flash code to avoid redirects. Added SDM to the podcast, bandwidth permitting. Made sure it worked on the AppleTV.

There’s still a bunch of little tweaking to be done but this should hold for a year or two. Like all good updates.

Been doing a little coding lately. Finally updated my RSS feed to get into the iTunes store. Test upgraded a Joomla install by hand. The bits on the inside were scary.

Decided to play with drupal after reading about it the other day. Got carried away playing with drupal and implemented about half of a new site. The remaining effort is video junk I already know. Goodbye WordPress.

Updated the AppleTV, reinstalled XBMC. The new UI is much cleaner. If only they would let proles into the TV store.

Well at least they made a statement, if it wasn’t the one I wanted to hear. I’ve been researching iSCSI lately so guess I’ll look at it even harder. If I had money I’d buy one either a DroboPro or a Promise DS4600.
