Equipment:
Got a brand new little camera, the HVX-200. For audio, an AT-835b + boom pole. Other accessories: a tripod, a Glidecam I bought to replace my home-built stabilizer, a greenscreen, batteries, cables, and so on.
On the computer end of things, I’ve got a little 15″ Aluminum Powerbook with a DVD writer and a bunch of other nice features. When that doesn’t work, I’ve got a Firewire drive loaded with Mac OS X that I use to steal other people’s machines.
Hard drives:
I’ve currently got data on fourteen or so hard drives. They nominally total a little over 6TB before you format them: the actual data count is currently 4.1/5.09 TB. My current high-powered disk management scheme involves a spreadsheet and the mess you see to the right.
My latest addition to this jumble is ZFS raid-z array, four 500GB drives in a Sans Digital TRU-4 enclosure. Provided it doesn’t try to eat my data in the next few months, this will probably be my future system going forward.
FutureTech:
- Every camera I have I figure out what I want in the next one. My current wishlist would be RAW support and 2k+ resolution: the Red One is probably the closest to my price range.
- Some better lighting equipment. And by that, I mean not work lights from Lowe’s.
- More disk space. No matter how much I have, that always applies.
- More RAM. See above.
