A group of random points:
- Bob was interested in seeing what the process was in FCP, so I worked out all the various kinks of HD->DV offline.
- I went to see “Collateral,” which was shot on the F-900, Viper, and a couple of shots on film and looked pretty good.
- My dad splurged on a HDTV, so I bought a DVI cable to connect my powerbook.
- And a guy in Japan got his hands on an early copy of the HDR-FX1, so I downloaded some footage for playback on said screen.
High-def is going to obsolete 50 years of video. A hundred years of film and maybe some animation will survive, needing a rescan to a HD master, but only those few TV shows that had the budget to shoot on film will be resurrected. Every DVD made so far will eventually be gone. Pretty much all of MTV and the reality TV shows will go out the window as well. Everything I’ve shot to date.
Let it burn.
